Trip to Ohio

Last week, I spent a few days in Ohio to visit my best friend Lydia (who happens to blog at Down and Out In Sephora) in Granville. The weird thing is, she's lived there for almost 10 years and this was the first time I'd ever come to visit! How crazy is that? We see each other at least once or twice a year, but it's almost always at my house in Michigan.

The drive was four-and-a-half hours, making it the first (and longest) road trip I've ever taken. Before that, the farthest I'd driven was to Toledo, OH, a mere 90 minutes away. I knew that I wanted to break up the drive, and was happily surprised to learn that Ashliegh of The Darling Daily (one of my very first blogging besties) lived on the way! So we met up for ice cream and she gave me a tour of Ashland University's campus. The buildings were so pretty, and it was so great to actually meet her in person! It also was the perfect pit stop, as I only had an hour and a half of driving left after that.

Ashliegh and I obviously had to snap a selfie before parting ways!

Lydia showed me all of the hot spots in Granville, such as Denison University (her alma mater), Whit's Frozen Custard, the Hartford Fair, the Granville farmer's market, Ye Olde Mill/Velvet Ice Cream, and much more. We even ventured to Columbus to check out the Easton Town Center indoor/outdoor mall, where I had so much fun at C. Wonder (post to come later!). Here are some of my favorite photos:

Hello!
I tried my first deep-fried food...ever. Milky Way on a stick, anyone?
This house-turned-coffee shop has the most delicious iced latte I've ever had.

And on the way back, I made a pit stop to Maumee Bay. Growing up, my family went on vacation there every year, but I haven't been there in about 10 years, so it was amazingly nostalgic. Though this was a significant detour, it was so worth it to dip my feet into Lake Erie and walk along the shore.

All in all, seeing Lydia and her family (and Hershey the dog) was absolutely wonderful! I'm so glad I was able to visit, and now we're dreaming about taking on Greece together. Wouldn't that be marvelous?
